September 23, 2015 – In advance of His Holiness Pope Francis’s joint address to Congress tomorrow, U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) welcomed the Pope to our nation’s capital saying, “The Pope is a man of Christ and has dedicated his life to serving the least amongst us – something I know that we all admire…. I know people across the Volunteer State join me in welcoming him to the United States and look forward to hearing his joint address to Congress.” “This no doubt is a historic week, and I am looking forward to welcoming His Holiness Pope Francis to our nation’s capital.
“The Pope is a man of Christ and has dedicated his life to serving the least amongst us – something I know that we all admire.
“Regardless of one’s beliefs or religious background, I believe there is something special about giving to others and serving others that makes us whole as human beings like nothing else.
“It turns us into the kind of people all of us really want to be.
“And I can think of no better example of that life mission than Pope Francis.
“I know people across the Volunteer State join me in welcoming him to the United States and look forward to hearing his joint address to Congress.”
