Construction continues on new City Court building

A date for completion has not been announced, but construction on a new City Court, adjacent to the Jackson Police Department Complex, 234 Institute St., continues.

The proposal was approved during the Jackson City Council’s meeting in August, 2018.

MG Construction is building the new 13,500-square-facility on land owned by the City of Jackson.

Construction costs are estimated at $2,682,216.

Rent used for the building at its current location will be diverted for the new facility, which will be owned by the city.

About $2 million has been spend on the lease at City Court’s 101 E. Lafayette St., location.
