(February 19, 2014) Jackson, Tenn.- The deadline to qualify for the May 2014 Primary is fast approaching.
Multiple Madison County positions will be up for election in the May primary for the August elections.
One of those county positions is Constable. There are multiple contested races in the constable districts and positions.
Constable District 1 represents County Commission Districts 1 & 2, Constable District 2 represents County Commission Districts 3 & 4, and Constable District 3 represents County Commission Districts 5 & 8.
Constable District 4 represents County Commission Districts 6 & 7 and Constable District 5 represents County Commission Districts 9 & 10.
As of February 19, District 1 Position 1 remains uncontested with Eddie Nelson Norman, the incumbent, set to run. District 1 Position 2 sees Ernest C. Meadows (D) running unopposed. The incumbent Jeff Lake (R) will not run in District 1.
Jeff Lake will, however, run in District 2 Position 1 against incumbent Daniel W. Vaughn (R). They will first face off in the primary in May as they are both Republicans.
District 2 Position 2 has no challengers yet for incumbent Phillip W. Lacy.
Both positions in District 3 are currently unopposed. Incumbents Bobby Perry and Ricky Martin will retain their seats in Position 1 and Position 2, respectively.
District 4 will see two primaries in May. Position 1 has incumbent Jimmy Jordan (R) and King Polvado (R) set for running. Incumbent Fred Cunningham (R) and Phillip Tosh (R) will run for Position 2.
District 5 Position 1has incumbent Frankie Lax (R) against Dameon Blue who has picked up a petition, but not yet qualified. Incumbent Scott Rowland remains unopposed in Position 2.
