JACKSON, Tenn — Thursday’s Madison County Insurance Committee meeting was
about rising health care costs
According to Madison County Commissioner Gary Deaton, the county’s
insurance fund has lost nearly $100,000 a month for the last two months,
Deaton said he is afraid this is only a sign of more to come.
In an effort to save money commissioners recently had to increase
individual deductibles $1,000 and family deductibles $1,500 .
Commissioner Deaton said nearly 1,400 people rely on the county’s
insurance plan and according to Deaton, the committee is being proactive
and trying to avoid a fund deficit.
A proposed prescription drug plan will be presented to the full commission
at next month’s meeting.
