(February 5, 2014) Jackson, Tenn.- The Jackson City Council met February and, in their business, approved repairs to the Jackson-Madison County Library.
The repairs will total $13,500. The City of Jackson will pay for two-thirds of the cost and Madison County will pick up the remaining third.
We spoke to Dinah Harris, the executive director of the Jackson-Madison County Library, and asked her what repairs needed to be made.
She told us that, “We have some leaks in our Tennessee Room genealogy department that have been there for quite some time.”
She also said that the Tennessee Room staff have done an excellent job preserving the items in the Tennessee Room from damage. She says that no items in the Tennessee Room has been damaged.
She also said that she was very delighted that the City Council approved the funds to be used for the repairs.
Jack Wood, Tennessee Room Librarian, echoed her excitement, “We are just really pleased that they are contributing that money to our repairs because we needed them and it will make our facility more secure for storing archival materials.”
Those repairs are just a part of the things discussed at the City Council meeting. For more on that, read the story HERE.
