Bryce Mott has joined Grace Media Group. GMG visited with Bryce – who will be working all things sports – for a question and answer session about his new position.

Question: First, a little background information – where are you originally from, family and education.

Answer: I’m originally from Jackson, graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in 2020 and I have one brother.

Question: What was the driving factor behind your decision to go into broadcast journalism?

Answer: My passion is the world of sports, whether that is writing about them, reading about them, or talking about them.

I first fell in love with broadcasting after hearing the call on Ray Allen’s iconic game-tying three-point shot in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. I still remember where I was to this day.

‘(Lebron) James, his three-pointer, won’t go. Rebound (Chris) Bosh, back out to Allen, his three-pointer … BANG! Tie game with five seconds remaining!’

Those words might not seem like more than a good sports call, but to me, they lit a fire that I believe won’t ever go out. From that moment I said ‘That’s what I want to do and I know a lot about sports.’

Question: Why did you feel Grace Media Group was the right place for Bryce Mott?

Answer: I was given the great opportunity to pursue my love of broadcasting at Grace Media here in Jackson.

I dove into all things sports-related from then, college sports, Pro basketball, college basketball, college football as well as professional, etcetera.

The history of the specific sport at the moment. You name something in sports and I just knew it – and if I didn’t know it – I’d be determined to find it.

When I originally got the call that Grace Media wanted to potentially bring me on board, I was ecstatic because I saw my dream start to unfold.

Question: It sounds like that someone who is just shy of age 20, would it be safe to say you have found a direction for your life few find so early in life?

Answer: I am one of the lucky few honestly. Not many people are blessed to go into a field they want to pursue as soon as I did, which I am so grateful for.

All the guys here have been so helpful in teaching me the ropes and lending their advice as well as expertise to someone who just stepped inside the door.

Every day I get to show up here at work and do what I love and honestly it never truly feels like work because I enjoy it so much. I look forward to making my time here at Grace Media count one day at a time and I can’t wait to see what the next day brings.
