(NASHVILLE) – Senator Dolores Gresham (R-Somerville) announced today, the city of Brownsville will receive $400,000 for Housing Rehabilitation through Community Development Block Grant (CBDG) funds administered by theTennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD).
The Brownsville community received a check from ECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Deputy Governor Jim Henry, January 30.
“I am pleased that Brownsville is receiving this grant,” said Senator Gresham. “These funds are going towards improving the lives of members of the Brownsville community, and I congratulate the work of local officials for being dedicated to protecting the health and safety of community members.”
The grant will be used to rehabilitate seven homes for low and moderate income people, improving living conditions and bringing those homes into compliance with codes.
“With the assistance of the CDBG funds, each grantee is taking the initiative to enhance their community, which will in turn create more economic development opportunities for the members of those communities,” Commissioner Rolfe said. “I want to congratulate the recipients on receiving these grants and look forward to seeing each of them continue to succeed.”
