Bethel, FHU post wins in NAIA Women’s Basketball Invitational, Friday

Bethel University and Freed-Hardeman University opened Day 1 with wins in the 2018 NAIA Women’s Basketball Invitational – hosted by the Southwest Tennessee Tourism Association – at Oman Arena, Friday.

Bethel University 79, Lindenwood-Belleville (Illinois) 51

Bethel’s Lady Wildcats placed four player in double-digits in their 79-51 win over Lindenwood-Belleville in the Invitational at Oman Arena, Friday.

Myah Taylor led the Lady ‘Cats with 16 points, Millie Bryant added 14, and Morgan Martin and Ashton Hulme contributed 11.

Brianna Mueller of Lindenwood-Belleville led all scorers with 21.

Columbia (Missouri) 75, Campbellsville

Jordan Alford’s 23 points helped lead Columbia to a 75- win over Campbellsville, Friday.

Morgan Brandt added 11 and Ashlee Marlatt scored 10.

Campbellsville was led by Madison Kaiser’s 11 points.

MidAmerica Nazarene 78, Shawnee State (Ohio) 69

Jovana Jovovic scored 20 points, Kechelle FIgueroa 19 and Jayden Oliver added 16 to lead MidAmerica over Shawnee State.

MidAmerica was led by Ashton Lovely with 20 points.

She was followed by Hannah Miller with 12 and Bailey Cummins with 10.

Freed-Hardeman University 87, Talladega (Alabama) 65

FHU placed four players in double-digits – Carrie Hatchel 27, Sandrea Sylman 22, Haylee Croom 16, Chynia Brooks 10 – as the Lady Lions outdistanced Talladega.

Vanguard (Calif) 70, Martin Methodist 62

Victoria Chea led all scorers with 15 points, and teammates Vanessa Murphy added 12, and Gabriella Rosas contributed 10 in a 70-62 win over Martin Methodist, who was led Destiney Williams and Brooklyn Blanchard, who tied for team honors with 11 points each.

2 p.m. – Lindenwood vs. Vanguard

4 p.m. -Martin Methodist vs. Campbellsville

6 p.m. – Shawnee State vs. Freed-Hardeman University
