Bennigan’s, an Irish pub-themed casual dining restaurant, has been released from its contract at 1118 Whitehall Street.

David Hunt, who is developing Bre Avenue at Madison Place, made the announcement during the Jackson City Council’s monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Tuesday.

Hunt said the $27 average cost of a meal at Bennigan’s is “Not viable in this market.”

Before the meeting, Hunt said he has three tenants for the 18,000-square-foot retail center on the southeast corner of Dr. F.E. Wright Drive and Whitehall Street.

Hunt said Mio Toro, a Mexican restaurant will join Loving Arms Adult Day Care and Dove Family Dentistry.

Early to late summer are the target dates for the three new businesses to open.
