Beer Board approves, then puts hold on permit for local convenience store

The Jackson Beer Board approved the a request of a beer permit for Adhabah M. Annamer for Hot Spot Market, 1291 North Highland Avenue – with one stipulation.

“There is a question if his background shows a conviction for illegal sale of alcohol,” said Lewis Cobb, attorney for the City of Jackson. “We know there was a citation, but we don’t know whether is was dismissed or (found) guilty. We’re having to look for the court records on that, and it takes a little longer to find the result of the court case versus just the citation.

“Assuming that is clear … he was approved. If the record is not cleared, someone who has a conviction for illegal sale of alcohol is barred from having a license.”

The question of the sale occurred in August 2014.

Annamer, who manages Hot Spot, was also convicted of arson in California, December 9, 1988.

He served four years.
