BAKER’S DOZEN area high school football coaches poll

Four area schools are in the hunt for a TSSAA state high school football championship at Tucker Stadium on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville.

The four – Peabody, Milan, Haywood and USJ are at the top of this week’s NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM, 93.1 FM & WNWS.COM – BAKER’S DOZEN area high school football coaches poll.

1) Peabody (13-0) – defeated Waverly, 42-7, Class 2A semifinals. Saturday’s state championship game – Peabody vs. Meigs County, 3 p.m., Dec. 5
2) Milan (11-1) – defeated Pearl Cohn, 27-13, Class 3A semifinals. Friday’s state championship game – Milan vs. Alcoa, 11 a.m., Dec. 4
3) Haywood (10-3) – defeated Lexington, 17-14, Class 4A semifinals. Saturday’s state championship game – Haywood vs. Elizabethton, 11 a.m., Dec. 5
4) USJ (10-2) – won semifinal game, Nov. 20. Thursday’s game – vs. Davidson Academy, Division II-A state championship game, 3 p.m., Dec. 3
5) Lexington (12-3) – lost at Haywood, 17-14, in Class 4A semifinals – season is complete
6) Henry County (10-4) – lost to Summit, Class 5A semifinals – season is complete
7) Lake County (7-2) – lost at home to Fayetteville, 38-24, Class 1A semifinals – season is complete
8) Covington (8-2) – season ended, Nov. 13
9) Hardin County (10-3) – season ended, Nov. 20
10) McKenzie (8-4) – season ended Nov. 20
11) Huntingdon (9-3) – season ended, Nov. 13
12) South Gibson County (8-3) – season ended Nov. 20
13) Waverly (10-3) – lost at Peabody, 42-7, Class 2A semifinals – season is complete
