At least 3 Vols won’t play during European exhibition tour

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee will have at least three players unavailable for its exhibition games in Europe as they recover from injuries.

Guard Jalen Johnson underwent surgery Tuesday for a stress fracture in his left shin. Forward John Fulkerson is recovering from a torn labrum. Guard Jordan Bowden had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee last week.

A timetable for Johnson’s return remains uncertain. Tennessee coach Rick Barnes says all his other players should be ready for the start of the season.

Tennessee is touring Spain and France from Aug. 2-12. Johnson, Fulkerson and Bowden will travel to Europe but won’t play in the games.

Guard Lamonte’ Turner underwent offseason shoulder surgery but is expected to play in Europe. The status of guard James Daniel III (ankle) for the Europe games is uncertain.
