Arrest Made In Murder Of Woman Outside Cordova Home

Second Person Of Interest In Slaying Of Woman In Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn.  — A day after arresting a suspect in the slaying of a Germantown woman two weeks ago, Memphis police say they also have a second suspect in custody.

The Memphis Police Department told local media Sunday that an unidentified person is already in jail on charges unrelated to the Aug. 1 death of Susan McDonald. Thirty-six-year-old Anthony Olivo was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the slaying.

According to an affidavit, Olivo told investigators he and someone else were attempting a theft when McDonald was shot in the face and killed in the driveway of a home in the Cordova suburb of Memphis.

McDonald was going to pick up a friend so that they could both volunteer for a race that morning in Memphis’ Overton Park.
