Air Choice One, which has offered air service to and from St. Louis on a daily basis from McKellar-Sipes Airport since 2015, is adding a new destination.
Atlanta.
“Air service out of Jackson is improving yet again,” said Kyle Spurgeon, president/CEO of the Jackson Chamber. “Now, effective March 1, you will can leave Jackson and fly directly to Atlanta. Atlanta opens up destinations, not only domestically but around the world … a more direct route to communities around the world.”
Spurgeon, who made his comments during a press conference at the Jackson Chamber, Tuesday, said the flight will be a bonus for manufacturers considering locating in Jackson and West Tennessee, while looking for a way to travel back and forth from Europe.
“In conversations with business professionals, a round-trip flight from Jackson to Atlanta was the most referenced business destination,” Spurgeon said. “Jackson will now able to offer one-stop flights, not only to more US destinations, but major cities around the world with service through Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport.”
Air Choice One will offer six flights – initially – out of McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Airline tickets will be available Feb. 4, at an introductory rate of $45.
The carrier continues to offer three round trip flights, Monday through Friday, from Jackson to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
One flight is offered each Saturday and two flights on Sundays.
“We were able to announce last years four more years of service to St. Louis, and the flight to Atlanta is really big,” said Steve Smith, executive director of McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport. “It opens the Jackson market up and flights the East Coast … New York, Miami and internationally.”
