Search for suspect ends with one arrest after shooting in north Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — Thursday morning 911 received a call of shots fired
Stanley Black & Decker plant Jackson after a man opened fire on cars in
the
parking lot.

Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser described the scene as disgruntled
employee, which turned into a active shooter, workplace violence
situation.

Chief Wiser said, “The suspect shot multiple vehicles, shot multiple times
in the parking lot,” The man was armed with a long gun according to Wiser.

Unable to enter the plant, the shooter fled on foot across Passmore Lane
to a field and wooded area.  The suspect got rid of the gun and also took
off his clothes during his brief run from authorities.  

The suspect was arrested coming out of a wooded area in a field near
Highway 45 and Ashport Road. 

Passmore Lane was closed for several hours as police marked and gathered
evidence from the scene.

The incident turned out to be a violent outburst by a man Black & Decker
later said was a temporary employee.

According to a plant spokesperson  their second and third shifts were
canceled Thursday and regular schedule resumed today.
