Eye Clinic welcomes new Optometrist; opens second clinic in Thomsen Farms

The Eye Clinic welcomes a new optometrist as it opens a second location in north Jackson.

According to a press release from Mary Reed – Reed: A Marketing Company – Eye Clinic North, 1340 Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms will offer comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages and a full-service optical shop.

The Eye Clinic, with its main location at 668 Skyline Drive, was founded by more than 50 years ago.

After 18 years of practicing optometry at his own clinic in Jackson, Corey Persons, O.D., has joined the Eye Clinic and will be practicing at the new north location. His specialties include primary eye care, dry eye, glaucoma management, specialty contact lenses and surgical co-management.

“I’m excited to join the excellent doctors at the Eye Clinic and continue to bring better vision to patients throughout the Jackson community,” Persons said.

Dr. Persons received his medical degree from the University of California. He then completed a residency with extensive training in ocular disease and pathology and surgical co-management. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology at San Diego State University.

Optometrist Adam Phelps, who has had a practice in Henderson, joined the Eye Clinic earlier this year. His clinical specialties are macular degeneration, dry eye, glaucoma, emergency care, hard-to-fit contact lenses, and surgical co-management. After graduating from Freed-Hardeman University, Dr. Phelps completed his doctorate degree at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.

In September, Ophthalmologist Rutvi Nord started seeing patients at the Eye Clinic. Dr. Nord received her medical degree from University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed her residency at the Hamilton Eye Institute, both in Memphis. Her clinical specialties are cataract surgery, macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.

“This is an exciting time for the Eye Clinic,” said Dr. Sean Neel. “We welcome our new physicians, and we look forward to taking care of patients at our new clinic.”

The three newcomers join ophthalmologists Dr. Neel, Dr. Jason Sullivan, Dr. Hilary Grissom, and Dr. Stephen Hammond Jr.; and optometrists Dr. Molly Lee and Dr. James Smith.

The Eye Clinic is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at both Jackson locations. It also has clinics in Selmer and Henderson. For an appointment, call 731.424.2414.
