Tennessee battles Akron Saturday. The Vols come in to this week’s game ranked number 15 after taking down Pittsburgh in the Johnny Majors Classic last Saturday. Hendon Hooker led the Big Orange offense with 325 yards on 27 completions out of 42 attempts; finishing with two touchdowns as a result. Pitt was fighting an uphill battle as rising star Kedon Slovis went down with injury in the first quarter; this forced backup quarterback Nick Patti into the game for the final three quarters. Patti severely struggled only completing 9 of 20 attempts on the day. Pitt running back Israel Abanikanda shouldered the offensive weight with 25 carries and 154 yards. Tennessee will havew their hands full on defense as QB DJ Irons of Akron threw for 409 yards and two touchdowns last weekend.
