A domestic incident among family members that led to a man barricading himself inside a home near downtown with an adult female and an infant about two months old, has ended without apparent injury.
The Jackson Police Department worked a situation where the individual barricaded himself and two others inside the home on Monroe Street, which is off South Royal Street, near the Neely House, Thursday.
At approximately 9:40 a.m., an individual entered the Jackson Police Department lobby stating “family members are being held against their will.”
JPD officers made contact, but the suspect closed and locked it the door.
Thom Corley, JPD chief of police, said the hostages were release at approximately 5 p.m., and “appeared safe and unharmed.”
Corley, who also applauded the hostage negotiators and SWAT Team, said about 30 minutes later the suspect surrendered.
