Union men’s golf finished seventh at Spring Bulldog Bash, Zimmer all-tournament

ATHENS, Ala. – The Union University men’s golf team posted a seventh place finish at the Union Spring Bulldog Bash. The 3-round event was played at the Canebrake Golf Club in Athens and featured eight teams with 47 golfers.

Union’s JJ Zimmer earned all-tournament honors with a fourth place finish. Zimmer shot a 211 (69, 71, 71). Daniel Montes of Christian Brothers won the event with a 206 (72, 67, 67). Union’s Gray Campbell also posted a top-10 finish with a T8 spot, shooting 213 (69, 73, 71).

The three other team players for Union included Timothy Pinkston T29 with a 222 (75, 73, 74), Blake Wolfe 39th with a 227 (78, 73, 76), and Trey Tidwell 45 with a 236 (81, 74, 81).

Union had three individuals including Logan Montgomery T32 with a 224 (74, 71, 79), Anders Rider 43rd with a 234 (78, 82, 77), and Garrett McCraw 46th with a 248 (81, 84, 83).

Up next for Union will be the Gulf South Conference Championships, April 14-16 in Mobile, Ala., at the RTJ Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove.

Union women’s golf earns fourth at Spring Bulldog Bash, Robertson all-tournament

ATHENS, Ala. – The Union University women’s golf team posted a fourth place finish in the Union Spring Bulldog Bash.

The 3-round event was played at Canebrake Golf Club in Athens and featured nine teams with 52 golfers. Union’s Kallie Robertson posted a fifth place finish with a 224 (79, 73, 72), earning all-tournament honors.

Christian Brothers’ Rachel Stephens and Shorter’s Paola Rosario tied for the top spot with scores of 221, with Stephens winning the playoff hole. Union had two players play as individuals including Cecily Berry, finishing just outside the top 10 with an 11th place finish at 231 (77, 74, 80). Her 74 was a collegiate personal best.

Union team scores including Robertson in in fifth was Nicole Taylor T14 at 233 (78, 76, 79), Aubrie Cable T18 at 236 (80, 75, 81), Karlie Alexander T29 at 242 (80, 82, 80), and Emma Korte T33 at 251 (84, 81, 86). McKinnley Korte finished T39 as an individual at 254 (82, 84, 89).

Up next for Union will be the Gulf South Conference Championships, April 14-16 in Mobile, Alabama at the RTJ golf Trail at Magnolia Grove.
