Jackson Energy Authority update on power outages –
*Storms yesterday took out power to over 11,000 JEA Customers. JEA Crews worked through the night restoring service.
*As of 11 a.m. this morning 2,622 customers remained without electric service. (over 1,700 concentrated mid-town Jackson).
*JEA’s work today is being assisted with utility crews from Brownsville, Humboldt and Lexington.
*There are 20+ utility poles, including large metal polls, that are leaning or down. Today’s priority will be resetting mainline poles in order to get power restored to as many customers as quickly as possible. This will be step-by-step heavy construction work. Next will be working the secondary lines throughout the system.
*Current estimate is that it may be Friday evening before full system service is restored. (There will be individual outages where homeowners will be taking up Individual property repairs essential for full power restoration.)
*JEA appreciates the work of our crews and crews from supporting systems and community messages of support and encouragement. Also appreciated is the understanding and patience of JEA customers.
