JACKSON Tenn (August 5, 2015) – Madison County Young Republicans are going to watch the first GOP Presidential debate of the year together at Flat Iron Grill. The public is invited. A pair of FREE tickets to the MCRP Presidential Listening Tour with Sen. Ted Cruz will be given away. Cruz will be in Jackson on Monday August 10th at the Jackson Fairgrounds.
Those who attend the GOP Debate Watch Party may purchase TWO tickets to the Cruz event for the price of ONE ($25). Â Tickets for the Ted Cruz event may also be purchased online at www.mcrptn.com or at Deaton’s Carpet One, Jackson TN.
Local GOP leaders are also hoping to have future visits by other Presidential candidates like the Ted Cruz event.
Republicans have a busy schedule for the next few months. In addition to the GOP Debate on Thursday and the Monday, August 10 Ted Cruz visit, in August county republicans will caucus to discuss the upcoming vacancies on the county commission. Commissioner Ann Harrell has submitted her resignation and commissioner Jerry Bastin is expected to turn in his before the August meeting. Harrell and Bastin both represent district 10. The August county republican caucus is 5:30 p.m., Wednesday August 12 at the Old Country Store.
Resignations will be officially accepted at the August meeting and resumes are currently being considered.
County commission will appoint interim commissioners to fill the vacancy(s) at the September meeting to serve until the August 2016 election.
Republican presidential candidates named who will participate in the first prime-time debate of the primary season on Thursday, Fox News : Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie and John Kasich.
The seven remaining candidates – Carly Fiorina, Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, George Pataki, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum – will participate in a debate earlier Thursday evening.
The selection of the 10 candidates was determined based on an average of the five most recent national polls.
