JPD – 1 injured during shooting at Old Hickory Mall; investigation continues

The extent of injuries are not known, but one person was shot at the Old Hickory Mall, 2021 North Highland Ave., and taken to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

On July 12, at approximately 3:55 p.m., officers and investigators of the Jackson Police Department responded to the mall in reference to a subject that had been shot. Responding officers located a victim who sustained what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Jackson Police do not believe the incident was a random act of violence but a targeted act of violence.

The victim in this incident was also the same victim from a recent shooting on East Forest Avenue. In the earlier shooting incident, the victim refused to talk with officers or investigators.

Jackson Police continue to investigate the shooting and ask anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Jackson Police Department at 731-425-8400 or crimestoppers.
