Madison County Sheriff John Mehr has named Dr. Rickey Brooks to be the new Director of Training for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Dr. Brooks has over 30 years of combined experience in higher education, private school administration and law enforcement. Dr. Brooks spent over 16 years teaching at the University level, where he attained the rank of Associate Professor, before leaving to begin a new career in private school administration.

He served as an Associate Professor of Economics at Freed-Hardeman University and also served as Controller at Perry Memorial Hospital.

In 2014, Dr. Brooks transitioned to a career in full-time law enforcement with the MCSO, where he now serves after graduating from the TN Law Enforcement Training Academy in2015.

He replaces Joe Bradley, who is retiring. Bradley’s assistant, Joyce Evans, is also retiring on June 30, after serving 22 years with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Joyce will be available to work on a part-time basis when needed.

Max Milam is replacing Ms. Evans. Milam served with the Tennessee Highway Patrol for 32 years and has worked in the MCSO’s Warrants and Communications Divisions for the past seven years.
