The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 73-year-old female died Dec. 28 due to complications from COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 137 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 93 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 8,399 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County – 6,595 have recovered.

The newest confirmed cases range from ages 3 to 81.

Our Epidemiology staff is reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Twenty-nine Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Three of those patients are on a ventilator.
