The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms an 88-year-old female died Dec. 18 due to complications from COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 136 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 56 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 8,306 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County – 6,527 have recovered.

The newest confirmed cases range from ages 16 to 95.

Epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Seventeen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Five of those patients are on a ventilator.
