JACKSON, Tenn. – Superintendent Dr. Marlon King announced on Thursday a principal
reassignment at Liberty Technology Magnet High School.
Dr. King David Rush has been selected to serve as interim principal at Liberty Tech. Dr. Rush will make the transition to Liberty after serving as an administrator on the CyberSchool staff.
“COVID-19 has impacted how we approach enrichment and learning, but it has not stopped our
need to make changes we deem to be in the best interest of students and staff,” Dr. King said, “To be the best, by any measure, organizations must adjust when adjustments are needed.”
A veteran administrator, Dr. Rush’s prior experience includes superintendencies and principalships in the Indianola and Starkville, Mississippi School Districts.
“School climate and culture have a direct influence on student success,” said Dr. Vivian Williams, deputy superintendent, “Ultimately this reassignment will have a positive impact on the school’s climate for both students and faculty.”
Current Liberty Tech principal Brad Barnett will be reassigned temporarily to CyberSchool as administrative support.
Dr. Rush will transition to Liberty on November 30.
“Additionally, my executive team and I have spent several months examining reassignment
options and new hires in preparation for the new 6th-12th grade format at JCM, so we anticipate
further shifts in the makeup of our senior leadership,” Dr. King said, “Those details will be shared in the coming weeks.”
