Physicians Quality Care – 2 more positive results; residents can participate in free monitoring program

Physicians Quality Care – 2075 Pleasant Plains Extension – received two more positive test results for the coronavirus Wednesday, bringing to 35 the number of patients who have COVID-19.

Since March 18, PQC has tested 732 people for the virus in its isolated and secure COVID-19 clinic in Jackson on Pleasant Plains Extension and received a total of 663 test results back from national testing laboratories.

As it continues to test people for the virus, PQC announced a new COVID Awareness Program that offers free, remote and real-time monitoring for anyone who wants to be in charge of their own health and learn as quickly as possible if they are showing symptoms for the virus.

After registering his or her name and cellphone number, the participant receives access to a HIPAA-compliant app for their smartphone, tablet or computer. Each day – or as often as necessary – the participant enters data, such as their temperature, and answers simple medical questions.

A medical professional reviews the information and, if any of it falls outside of accepted parameters, the participant will receive a call to discuss the next step.

“The program is free,” said Dr. Jimmy Hoppers, CEO of Physicians Quality Care, “If we are going to contain this virus, we have to identify people who might have the virus as early as possible.”

In mid-March, PQC set up three completely separate clinics at its Jackson location to handle the increase in COVID-19 concerned patients and the need to keep them separate from urgent care patients who don’t have coronavirus symptoms and primary care and OCCMED patients.

Each group has its own entrance and exam rooms.

Patients who have tested positive for the virus live in several West Tennessee counties: Madison County, 23 positive test results; Gibson County, 5; Haywood County, 3; Carroll County, 1; Henderson County, 1; Obion County, 1; and McNairy County, 1.

All of PQC’s test kits are FDA approved and are sent to CDC-approved, nationally accredited reference laboratories.

People who want to be tested for the virus should call ahead of time or from the clinic’s parking lot. They will be given a mask and taken through the COVID-19 clinic door and straight to an exam room.

People who want to sign up for the COVID-19 Awareness Program can call the clinic or do so online at the clinic’s website.

The Physicians Quality Care location in Jackson is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.

Telemedicine is available for people who don’t want to come to the clinic. Because all COVID-19-concerned patients are directed to Jackson, PQC’s Milan location has new hours.

It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To sign up for the awareness program or for more information, call 731-984-8400 or visit physiciansqualitycare.com.
