Assisting a family in a car that had caught fire earned Willie Ledbetter, an employee with the City of Jackson a proclamation.
Ledbetter was presented the proclamation by Jackson Mayor Scott Conger during the Jackson City Council’s monthly meeting, Tuesday, for his “exemplary public service to the City of Jackson when he assisted a family driving a vehicle that was on fire.
“His swift action in extinguishing the fire saved the family from great harm, and is a testament to his character.”
Understandably, Ledbetter said the lady driving the vehicle was concerned about her car.
“I said ‘don’t worry about the car,'” Ledbetter said, “The only thing I could think about was to get them out of the car and help them.”
