The West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees approved a budget of projected operating revenues of $939 million, and $922 million in operating expenses for fiscal 2019, during its monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.
“We had the opportunity for our board to approve the 2019 operating budget for West Tennessee Healthcare,” said James Ross, president/CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare. “We’re seeing about a 22, 23 percent increase with our revenue for the system and that particularly (was) predicted through the acquisition of Tennova hospitals.”
Key initiatives for fiscal 2019 include improved financial sustainability, recovery from 2018 transition year, stabilization following technology transition, movement toward long-term goals, integration of Tennova West operations and a continued shift to Health System Orientation.
The West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees approved two resolutions during the meeting.
Due to the number of cases utilizing Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), the Board approved an endoscopic ultrasound program to enhance care to patients for gastrointestinal issues.
The engineering department has received estimates for design and construction, architecture fees, and contingencies at a cost of $405,878 of budgeted hospital funds.
The Board also approved a resolution to purchase two Smith & Nephew NAVIO Surgical Systems at a cost of $1,195,000.
The purchase includes two navigational systems, $125,000 in company sponsored marketing from Smith & Nephew, a two-year warranty plus service agreements of $25,000 each in years, three, four and five.
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital becomes the first hospital in Tennessee to have NAVIO assisted knee replacements, and the first and only hospital in the country to have a warranty for life on all knee implants that are placed with the assistance of the NAVIO.
