MADISON, COUNTY Tenn — Madison County Sheriff’s investigators are looking for information regarding a Monday night shooting. A Memphis man was robbed and shot while in Madison County.
According to Sheriff John Mehr, the incident began in the parking lot of Love’s Truck Stop. The victim told authorities he was looking for a way to Memphis after friends he was expecting didn’t arrive.
The victim said he was approached by several people who offered to take him to Memphis but instead drove him out to Betty Manley Road where he was ordered out of the vehicle at which point the victim was shot.
Mehr said investigators believe robbery was the motive. According to the victim, he had money and other items on him that were taken.
Mehr did not identify the victim except that he is a 41-year-old black male from Memphis.
Mehr said the victim made his way to a residence on Betty Manley Road and that’s where the call for help was made. The victim was taken to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and then transported to the MED in Memphis. He is listed in stable condition.
Mehr said they have two people they are questioning but are still looking for other suspects and witnesses. No one has been charged.
