Police Investigate Automobile Burglaries

JACKSON Tenn — Jackson Police Department has received a large number of automobile burglary
reports over the past weekend.

Jackson Police have responded
to approximately ten automobile burglary calls since Friday afternoon. These are
occurring at various locations throughout the city.

Officers have responded to the Wright’s Mill subdivision, the West Old Hickory area,
Campbell Street and Sweetbay Drive area, hotel parking lots and two apartment
complexes on the north side of the city.

In nearly all of these incidents, the car doors were left unlocked by the owners and
valuables were stolen from inside the vehicles.

Some of these burglaries resulted in rifles and handguns being stolen. In one incident
an AR-15 rifle chambered in .22 caliber was stolen. In a separate burglary, a .40
caliber Glock pistol was stolen. In other incidents the thieves have found checkbooks
and wallets left inside unlocked vehicles.

The Jackson Police Department strongly urges the public to lock your car doors, take
your keys and not leave any valuables in a car.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle is a Class E felony in the State of Tennessee. Anyone with
information about this case, or any other crime is encouraged to contact the Jackson
Police Department at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477
