NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – A Memphis teacher has been named the 2014-15 Tennessee Teacher of the Year.

Karen Vogelsang was presented the award by the state Education Department at a banquet last week in Nashville.

Vogelsang is a fourth-grade teacher at Keystone Elementary in Shelby County.

During the banquet, the department also recognized finalists who earned Teacher of the Year for each Grand Division. Vogelsang was recognized as the winner for West Tennessee.

Shannon Streett, a sixth-grade language arts teacher at Woodbury Grammar in Cannon County, was recognized for Middle Tennessee; and Ashley Carter, a third-grade teacher at John Adams Elementary in Kingsport, was recognized for East Tennessee.
