UPDATE: The Jackson Police Department’s Firearms Instructor has been treated and released.
JACKSON Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2017) – On Tuesday around 1:58 p.m., officers of the Jackson Police Department were conducting Quarterly Firearms Training at 226 Cotton Grove Road, Fraternal Order of Police Range, when one of their firearms instructors was accidentally shot by another officer of the Jackson Police Department.
According to Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser, his officers at the scene immediately started first aid until Emergency Medical Personnel were able to arrive on the scene.
The firearms instructor was transported to the Med in Memphis and is currently in stable condition. according to a news release.
Per the department’s policy, an Administrative Shoot Team Investigation is being conducted.
Chief Wiser and the officers of the Jackson Police Department are asking the community for prayer on behalf of both officers.
