The Jackson Beer Board suspended one beer license and fined four additional businesses during a Show Cause Hearing at the City Council Chambers, Thursday.
Regional Express Inc., – Exxon – 6 Channing Way, had its license suspended for 30 days after a confidential informant under the age of 21 purchased beer on September 28.
The offense was the second for Regional Express, Inc.
Four businesses fined $1,500 for selling to confidential informant under the age of 21, also on September 28 were –
B K LLC, doing business as Minor Food Market No. 1, a Shell station located at 230 Oil Well Road.
Dollar General No. 8151, 49 Kenworth Blvd.
Dollar General No. 7727, 111 Old Hickory Blvd.
Dollar General No. 9957, 2097 N. Parkway, Suite 101.
“In the long run, it is our hope that the business owner understands the position of the board, and they, as well, do not want any underage sales,” said Charles Rahm, chairman of the Jackson Beer Board.
Minor Market No. 1 and the three Dollar General Stores also face a 30-day suspension, which will be suspended if the fines are paid in a period of seven days.
The Beer Board approved a request for a beer permit from Wings Jackson LLC, for a business known as Wings ETC., Grill & Pub, 788 Vann Drive, for selling, storing and serving beer on the premises where sold.
