Beer Board – new businesses approved for permits

Two new businesses were approved to sell, store and serve beer on the premises where sold, when the Jackson Beer Board met at the City Council Chambers, Friday.

Steven Trent Alford, the owner of 731 Sports Bar & Grill, 603 Vann Drive, Suite B, and Jacqueline and Derrick Wells – M. D. Baker & Associates, LLC – which is doing business as J. Thomas House of Bourbon and Blues, 111 E. Lafayette Street, were granted permits.

Trent Alford, who also owns Redbone’s Grill & Bar, 584 Carriage House Drive, has set an opening date of October 2 for 731 Sports Bar & Grill.

“We’ll have 50 different beers, some craft,” Trent said. “We’ll have burgers, wraps, wings … with seating for 140, plus a patio.”

Hours at the 5,600-square-foot facility will be 11 a.m. to midnight, Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturdays.

Name the sporting event and mostly likely it will be on one of 39 flat screen televisions.

There’s also a game room in the non-smoking facility.

Miss Ollie’s becomes J. Thomas House of Bourbon and Blues, and the request to change the name on the beer permit also includes a change of manager on the beer pemit.
