‘I first thought he was joking’ – Five Points Country Store owner on Saturday’s robbery

While authorities continue to look for the individual who robbed Five Points Country Store at 11:33 a.m., Saturday, Amrish Patel believes he knows who committed the crime and where he can be found.

Amrish owns the store located at 844 Ozier Road in Pinson – but any names are being withheld until official word is received from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

“He looked familiar,” Amrish said. “His photo has been posted on Facebook, and people have started to reply. He has not been arrested, not that I know.”

Amrish, who has owned the store for three-and-a-half-years, said a man initially entered the store, made a purchase, and then left.

He returned and presented a note to Amrish.

“I first thought he was joking,” Amrish said. “He told me to “Empty your register … I have a gun. He lifted his shirt and pulled a gun out, but he didn’t point it toward me.”

The robber left with $280 in cash.

No shots were fired during the armed robbery, and there were no injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, five-feet-eight-inches tall, and weighing 175- to 200 pounds.

He has red facial hair and wearing a black baseball hat and driving an automobile described as a mid-90s Nissan Frontier pickup truck – white or silver in color.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Jackson-Madison County Sheriff’s Department (731) 423-6000 or CrimeStoppers (731) 424-TIPS (8477).
