(November 26, 2013) Jackson, Tenn.- Liberty Gardens in Jackson is soon to see some additions. These new features were detailed at the last Keep Jackson Beautiful Commission meeting of the year.
The plaques for the 90 trees in Liberty Gardens have arrived and will be installed soon. These plaques will secure the park the title of Level 3 Arboretum.
They won’t stop at being a level 3 arboretum, however. The Commission is in the preliminary planning stages of becoming a botanical garden.
The park will also see the addition of a Veteran’s Memorial Gazebo. The gazebo will feature a bell-shaped copper booth, limestone pillars, and a blue flagstone floor.
The park has two patches near their veterans memorial that were left open for a cannon. They applied to be on a list for a cannon, but were told they weren’t given out during the time of war.
Recently, they received a call asking if they were still interested in receiving a cannon. Liberty Gardens will receive one cannon, they anticipated, by the end of the year. They still have the second spot and still hope to have a second cannon to fill its place.
The roof has been placed on the bathrooms and they hope to have them completed soon, though they offerend no completion date.
