Teen Agrees to Plead Guilty to Killing Principal

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Memphis teen charged with fatally stabbing his high school principal two years ago has agreed to plead guilty to second degree murder and accept a 35-year prison sentence.

Criminal Court Judge W. Mark Ward on Tuesday questioned Eduardo Marmolejo on the stand. The 18-year-old said he accepted the plea agreement and the judge had no objections.

Marmolejo was charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Suzette York in August 2011. The 49-year-old York was Marmolejo's principal at Memphis Junior Academy, a private school affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Marmolejo was 16 at the time of the killing, which investigators say he planned for months.

A juvenile court judge determined that the teen should be tried as an adult, and he was indicted in February 2012.
