Thursday evening, the Jackson Police Department was contacted by officers with the Alamo Police Department. They were in Jackson following up on an investigation related to crimes against a minor that had occurred in Alamo. The target of their investigation was Daniel Williams, 36, of Jackson.
Williams is a registered sex offender who was convicted of crimes against a minor in Jackson in 1992, 93 and 94.
Jackson investigators assisted the Alamo officers and served a search warrant on Williams’ home in the 400 block of Arlington Avenue.
Investigators seized two handguns, two shotguns, one of which had a sawed-off barrel and over a thousand rounds of ammunition from Williams’ home.
Evidence related to Alamo’s case was also seized from his home. Investigators seized an ammunition can containing shell casings and three loaded handgun magazines from Williams’ Jeep Wrangler that was parked in hisdriveway.
Just as Williams was posting bond and about to be released from the Crockett
County Jail on their charges, Jackson police notified them that he would face
charges in Jackson. He was then brought to the Madison County Jail where he
remains in custody.
Jackson police will charge Williams with being a Convicted Felon in Possession
of a Firearm and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon for the sawed-off shotgun.
