Two Men Arrested in Connection with Murder of Jackson Native Andre Bell in Nashville

Metro Nashville Police Department detectives have arrested two men in connection with the January 11 shooting death of 20-year-old Andre Bell, a Jackson, Tennessee native and Fisk University student-athlete.

Homicide detectives tonight are charging Brayden Carter & Damarion Coleman, both 18 & of Murfreesboro, with 1st degree murder for the Jan 11 fatal shooting of Fisk Univ student Andre Bell.

Bell, a sophomore business administration major and member of the Fisk Bulldogs basketball team, was driving his white Nissan Sentra back to campus with two fellow students after volunteering at a gymnastics event at the Nashville Fairgrounds. As the group traveled on I-65 North near the I-40 interchange, a dark-colored sedan pulled alongside their vehicle and gunfire erupted, striking Bell in the head. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
