Sayle Oil Company gives insight into fuel prices
Whether you’ve watched the news or not, you’re sure to have heard of the recent surge in oil and gas prices somewhere. Oil companies across the U.S. have heard the uproar of the public
regarding these prices and when they’ll be able to see them go down.
Talk-N-West Tennessee was able to coordinate an interview with Kevin Dye, the regional account manager, from Sayle Oil Company. Located at 540 E. Chester Street in Jackson, Tennessee, Sayle Oil is one of the most used companies in Jackson. The company generally sells and delivers bulk fuel, bulk and packaged oil and hydraulic fluid to their customers.
Thankfully, with the recent surge in oil and fuel prices Sayle has not seen much decline in their
customers.
“Usually when the prices increase, everybody tries to beat that by ordering before the price
increases go up”, Dye said.
As for the increase in prices, Dye said they’re not able to give people a timeline of when they
will go down. Sayle Oil doesn’t like to see these increases as much as the next person but they
are unfortunately kept in the dark with the general population.
What many people might not know is even the weather affects how these oil companies work. If you’re a Tennessee resident, you might have heard at some point that Tennessee is a large Agriculture state.
Several of Sayles customers are farmers in West Tennessee that have been greatly affected by the large amounts of rain we’ve had which then affects Sayle due to the low demand of fuel from them.
Sayle Oil company has been opened for 78 years now with six different plants across
Mississippi, Tennessee and Missouri.

Construction continues on new $30 million Union University chapel
JACKSON, Tennessee – Construction continues on a new $30 million chapel on the campus at Union University – a project described as the campus capstone that will serve as a visible testimony of the institution’s Christ-centered mission for generations to come.
The freestanding facility, located on the eastern edge of the Jackson campus, will be clearly visible from the U.S. Highway 45 Bypass. Its design features a steeple that will rise above every other building on campus, symbolizing the university’s commitment to keeping Christ at the forefront of its work.
The project is a central priority of “Union 200: The Bicentennial Campaign” – an original campaign goal was $60 million, but the Board felt led to increase it to $80 million to include the new chapel.
The new facility will replace the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel, which has served the campus since 1975.
The pipe organ will be disassembled, stored and reassembled in the new chapel.
Hord Architects of Memphis designed the building, which will include four columns at the entrance representing Union’s core values – excellence-driven, Christ-centered, people-focused and future-directed.
Linkous Construction will serve as the project’s contractor.
Plans are for Union to dedicate the new chapel in January 2028.
To date, donors have given more than $15 million plus toward the $30 million project cost. Naming opportunities remain available, and contributions can be made online.
Tavola Italian Kitchen opens on Vann Drive
Flatiron Restaurant Group, the local hospitality team behind popular spots like Flatiron Grille, Bistro Eleven Sixty, and Nolins, opened Tavola Italian Kitchen at 1150 Vann Drive, the site of the former Pyros Fire Fresh Pizza.
Tavola Italian Kitchen brings classic and contemporary Italian fare to the area, adding another option to Jackson’s growing restaurant scene along the busy corridor.
The new Italian restaurant occupies the space that previously housed the Memphis-based pizza chain, which closed its Jackson location in late 2025.
Flatiron Group, already a strong presence on Vann Drive with its three restaurants, is expanding its footprint with this fresh dining concept.
