Public Notice is hereby given that the Jackson City Council of the City of Jackson, Tennessee (the “City”), will meet in open and public session in the George A. Smith Meeting Room at City Hall, 101 East Main Street, at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 8, 2026, for the purpose of considering all matters as may be properly presented to it, including the consideration of a resolution authorizing a loan agreement with The Public Building Authority of Sevier County, Tennessee, in a principal amount not to exceed $26,000,000 to finance, in whole or in part, the design, construction, improvement, renovation and equipping of public buildings and facilities, including but not limited to a civic center, recreational facilities, community centers, and an animal care center; police and fire department buildings, facilities, and equipment; streets, roads, parkways, bridges, and pedestrian and other related improvements; and the payment of costs incident to the financing, and for other purposes as outlined in the posted agenda.
“On Thursday we’ll have our final review of the proposed $26 million bond issue to fund capital needs,” said Russ McKelvey, City of Jackson Councilman, District 8. “Council authorized our Recorder’s Office to pursue this issue shortly after we passed the FY26 budget.
“The vote for this proposed ordinance is to determine whether we accept or deny the debt issue. If passed, it will fund multiple street resurfacing projects, turf infields at the Sportsplex, enhancements to the Civic Center and multiple parks, as well as IT upgrades and new police vehicles.”
