JACKSON – Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for two West Tennessee men accused in connection to a 2011 double homicide.
According to authorities, at the request of 25th District Attorney General Mike Dunavant, TBI Special Agents began investigating the September 4, 2011 deaths of Eric Lee Washington, 26, and Jonathan Lavell Jones, 25. On that day, deputies from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office discovered the bodies of the two men, who had been shot, in a vehicle in the middle of Tate Road in Henning.
TBI agents say, during the course of the investigation, they developed information connecting Darius Markee Alston and Darius Deshun Mitchell to the crimes.
On Monday, the Lauderdale County Grand Jury returned indictments for Alston and Mitchell, charging both Henning men with two counts of Premeditated First Degree Murder, two counts of Felony First Degree Murder, two counts of Especially Aggravated Robbery, and one count of Felony Possession of a Weapon. At the time of this release, Alston, 27, was being held on unrelated federal charges at a prison in Tipton County. Mitchell, 26, was being held in the Lauderdale County Jail on an unrelated homicide charge.
