JACKSON Tenn (June 30, 2015) – Grills are firing up. Boats are revving up. Hikers are gearing up. Swimmers and tubers and skiers are suiting up.

Many will be heading out to TVA’s lakes and recreation areas, which offer a wealth of free, fun, family-friendly activities—from active pursuits like hiking, fishing, boating and mountain biking to more relaxed activities like birdwatching, picnicking or quiet wildflower walks.

TVA hopes you’ll use your phones and cameras to capture a few memories of you and your family enjoying TVA’s waters and lands.

TVA is kicking off #TVAsummer, a summer-long photo contest designed to help you share the good times. You’ll get to show off all the ways you revel in the southern heat, and maybe win some cool prizes for your efforts.

“The contest is all about capturing the fun side of summer,” says Travis Brickey, TVA’s senior program manager. “We’ve made it as easy as possible, and it’s free. Just post your photo to your personal Twitter or Instagram account and tag it #TVAsummer. Or, upload the photo directly to TVA’s Facebook page.”

The #TVAsummer photo contest runs through September 7. The following prizes will be awarded to the top three winners:

First place: GoPro Hero4 Extreme Camera Kit

Second place: Fitbit Surge Fitness Superwatch

Third place: Eton Hand Turbine Rechargeable USB Battery Pack

So, whatever you’re doing on TVA lands or waters—pulling squealing children from inner tubes, reeling in a big catch, spotting a treasured bald eagle or popping the question at a romantic lakeside picnic—take a photo and share it.
