Chastity Yancey, 27, who has been charged in the Oct. 30, death of a 3-year-old child, remains in the Criminal Justice Complex, and is being held without bond.
Yancey has been charged with First Degree Murder in Perpetration of Aggravated Child Abuse and/or Neglect and an additional count of Aggravated Child Abuse and/or Neglect.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Yancey willingly placed two juvenile children in a locked and barricaded room in their home on Cane Creek Road in an attempt to deprive them of food and water, leading to the malnourishment and dehydration and the death of one of the children.
One child remains in LeBonheur, and two other children are in the care of family members.
