Woman Taped Boy’s Soap-Filled Mouth Shut

A  woman has been accused of filling a boy’s mouth with dish soap and taping his mouth shut.

32-year-old Amy Oliver has been charged with felony reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and aggravated child abuse and neglect.

Rhea County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Ricky Potter says a man called police July 31 after arriving at Oliver’s home near Dayton to pick up his child and seeing another child wrapped in clear packing tape and struggling to breathe.

Potter says the tape was gone when officers arrived, but a sticky substance was still on the boy’s skin. Deputies say the boy is doing well.

Potter says Oliver isn’t the parent of any of the children inside the home. It is unclear if she has an attorney.
