A presentation from Amy Hill, director of Wound Management, highlighted the monthly West Tennessee Healthcare’s Board of Trustees meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Healogics is recognized as the wound healing expert; driving wound science, healing and prevention forward to help heal more wounds and change more lives.
Statistics show 25 percent of all diabetics will develop a foot ulcer, and 26 percent of patients admitted to a hospital from a nursing home have pre-existing wounds.
Also, 20 percent of the over 65 population suffers from peripheral artery disease, the disease commonly associated with non-healing wounds, and about 20 percent of general surgery readmits are tied to Surgical Site Infections.
“At West Tennessee Healthcare, we’ve had a partnership with Healogics since 2006 for our hospital,” Darrell King said, “They are a national company, able to provide the resources. They can come in and provide wound care services treatment for patients with wounds – doing it in an excellent fashion … taking care of our patients to return them to health.”
