CFO Report
Jeff Blankenship, Chief Financial Officer, gave an update on the health system’s financial performance.
Again, in November, inpatient volume remained higher than expected overall and that, combined with certain outpatient volume resulted in revenue that was 3% over budget, despite continued shortfalls in volume for emergency room and primary care clinic visits. Extended hospital stays, combined with staffing costs and COVID-related costs resulted in costs that were 10% over budget.
As a result, the system posted an operating loss of -4.4% in November. Year to-date, the system’s operating margin was a loss of -2.3%.
