NASHVILLE – Humboldt native Emily McGill has performed in front of audiences with her family most of her life. Now as a solo artist, she has signed a recording and publishing contract with music legend Steve Cropper and is the first artist on Cropper’s new label, Sneaky Animals.
McGill, 24, performed a showcase of original songs last week at City Winery in Nashville along with Cropper and two full-time musicians from Jackson who now make Nashville home, Ian Bennett and Colton Parker.
McGill’s brother-in-law, Brandon Powers of Milan, played drums for the event.
The Bethel University alumnae was in the WNWS studio late Friday for an interview with News Talk 101.5 afternoon host Brad McCoy. Click the player above to watch the interview.
