Two area high school football players – Jayden Milton, West Carroll Junior/Senior High School and Noah Spencer from the University School of Jackson are among the top 10 running backs in the nation in rushing yards.
Milton, a senior, is listed as the second leading rusher in the country.
He has accounted for 1,258 rushing yards in four games for the War Eagles and is 41 yards shy of the top spot in the country.
Spencer, a senior, and free safety on defense, is listed as the 10th leading rusher in the nation with 950 yards.
Both Milton and Spencer have earned the THE REID TEAM.COM – NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM & WNWS.COM ‘Player of the Game’ awards this season.
Milton, who also plays defensive back, and returns kicks, rushed for 340 yards, scored five touchdowns, added three 2-point conversions, and had three solo tackles in West Carroll’s 42-15 win over visiting Harding Academy, August 30.
Spencer and teammates Corben Howard, USJ’s quarterback, and USJ running back Jackson Pugh received the award following the Bruins’ 49-20 win at Peabody, August 23. Spencer rushed for 144 yards, scored two touchdowns, and caught a touchdown pass for 80 yards.
